Bob Peickert announces his candidacy for
District 1
DuPage County Board
Long time
resident of DuPage County, Bob Peickert, is announcing his
candidacy for the position of Board
member of the DuPage County Board serving District 1. Bob is a 34 year
resident
of DuPage County and resides in Elmhurst
with his wife, Pat.
Bob is a former
math teacher
and spent 25 years as a director of a teachers’ organization working to
improve
our educational systems. He is now a small business owner and member of
the
Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce.
Bob has raised
his family in
our area and wants to improve the future opportunities for his family,
including his 5 grandchildren, and all families in DuPage County.
As a
member of the DuPage County Board Bob
Peickert would work for:
- Property
Tax Relief –“The DuPage County Board and its Chairman must work harder
to control unnecessary and excessive spending. The first step would be
to roll back their big pay raises. The Board and its Chairman must also
support a plan that would reduce our reliance on property taxes to fund
education. DuPage County residents are tired of escalating
property taxes.”
- Environment
and Transportation – “The DuPage County Board and its Chairman must
address ways for us to help our nation reduce its dependency on foreign
oil by investing in renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and
water. The Board and its Chairman have not addressed ways to improve
our public transportation system or to reduce traffic congestion on our
crowded roadways.”
- Good
government –“We need good government in DuPage County. Good government begins with elected
officials who demonstrate that their interests lie with the residents
and not themselves. The DuPage County Board and its Chairman gave
themselves a 75% pay raise over an 8 year period. Board members are
paid $48,620 to attend two meetings a month. As a County Board member, I intend to watch over your tax dollars
to make sure that your interests are served and not those serving on
the Board.”
<>Gayl Ferraro,
Chairperson of
the DuPage County Democratic Organization stated: “We are very pleased
to have
a candidate like Bob Peickert running for the position of DuPage County
Board
Member in District 1. He brings experience as an educator as well as a
small
business owner. I am convinced he will work hard as a member of the
DuPage
County Board to improve government in DuPage County.” <>Art Remus, Chair
of the
Addison Township Democratic Organization, added: “With Bob Peickert on
the
DuPage County Board we will have a watchdog over what has been a
one-sided
political group of County Board members that continue to ignore the needs of many
residents
in our communities.”
Bob Peickert
concludes “As a
small business owner, l know how to be efficient while effectively
serving my
customers. As a DuPage County Board member serving District 1, I will
work to
ensure that we have a more accountable and helpful government in DuPage County.”
<>Bob Peickert
welcomes the
support of all residents of District 1.
