PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 12, 2008
On Saturday, April 26th (rain
or shine) from 9:00AM to approximately 12 noon, the Bloomingdale
Township Democratic Organization (BTDO) has agreed again to clean the
heavily used section of the Great Western Trail from Bloomingdale Road
west to Schmale Road through the villages of Glendale Heights and Carol
Stream in the southern section of Bloomingdale Township.
“This
is the seventh year in a row that the BTDO has undertaken this
important effort to clean a section of the Great Western Trail that
gets a lot of use and unfortunately a lot of litter from the users of
the trail. Their help and the participation of others from the
surrounding communities is also very important. This annual commitment
by the BTDO is appreciated by trail users and the Friends of the Great
Western Trail.” stated Don Kirchenberg volunteer Chairman of the
Friends of the Great Western Trails.
“We
are glad to help clean this important recreational resource again
because we want to continue to help the community and make it better
where ever we can.” stated Pete Null Chairman of the Bloomingdale
Township Democratic Organization. “We always welcome additional
volunteers and participants to help us clean the trail. And we will
have free refreshments for the volunteers after the trail cleanup.”
Cleanup
volunteers are encouraged to park at President St at the GWT approx.
½
mile south of North Ave or ¼ mile north of St Charles Road. It
is recommended that all volunteers wear gloves, long sleeve shirts and
long pants to help eliminate scrapes and cuts from thorny bushes or
sharp objects left as trash along the trails. Those with wagons or two
wheel carts to help carry the filled garbage bags are asked to bring
them along too.
