Dear Lisle Township Democrats:

The race is on for Illinois' 13th Congressional District and Scott Harper just got a big boost.  The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) just placed this race on their targeted list.  This can lead to a lot more national attention and a lot more money for the Harper Campaign.  Scott Harper has already raised more money than any other Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative in the 13th Congressional District.

Please attend our meeting from 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on April 21st at the Woodridge Public Library on Plaza Drive in Woodridge.

I am pleased to announce we will have two featured speakers.  Lonnie Morris from the Sierra Club will present the Sierra Club's "Cool Cities", an environmental program for cities.  Find out how this program works and how our local cities are involved.  Rich Capparell, Field Director of the Scott Harper for Congress Campaign, will present us with his program, with timelines and numbers, for directing volunteer programs.  He will show us how the campaign works and tell us how we can be involved.  We will also introduce our newly slated state and county candidates in Lisle Township.

Especially for our Precinct Committee(wo)men, Harriett Lindstrom will review what you are expected to do in the nomination of Election Judges for your precincts and answer your questions.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you on Monday.  The complete Meeting Agenda can be found below.

Sincerely,

Doug Higgins
Chairman

Dear Lisle Township Democrats,

Join us for a great evening of fun with friends, officeholders, and candidates at the LTRDO's Celebration honoring former LTRDO Chair Guy Maras on Thursday, May 8 at The City Club in Naperville.  This celebration will raise funds for our local Democratic candidates.  We expect to have Democratic congressional and local candidates, and officeholders.  Please see the details below from our Committee Co-Chair, Hiram Wurf.

With the "slating" process almost complete Democratic candidates will now be on the ballot this November in all the DuPage County Board and Forest Preserve District contests!  Additionally, we now have a Democratic candidate, Joe Heneghan, slated to run for state representative in  Illinois Representative District 48.  Representative District 48 is now an open seat and includes about two thirds of our Lisle Township precincts (Naperville and parts of Lisle and Woodridge).  There are now a lot of great Democratic candidates to support and to vote for on Election Day in November, both nationally and locally.

While we are busy adding additional Democratic Precinct Committee(wo)men to support our candidates in the neighborhoods, we need your support to help finance these campaigns.  So please join your fellow Democrats for this celebration.  It should be a big crowd and a lot of fun!

Dear Lisle Township Democrats:

This is a special announcement to invite you to meet Scott Harper tomorrow, Saturday March 29th.  The November election is not far away.  We Democrats aim to take back the White House.  We also aim to take back our 13th Congressional District.  We have an excellent candidate, Scott Harper, who can help us make that happen.

Please meet Scott Harper tomorrow, Saturday, in Downers Grove at 2:30 p.m. and volunteer to help this important campaign.  Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St., Downers Grove.

Scott Harper will support us in Washington and will help make a difference to us in DuPage, but in order to do that he needs our support now.

Please call Rich Capparell now at 630-848-2111 or at rich@scottharperforcongress.com and let him know you are coming from Lisle Township.

Bill Foster won the 14th Congressional District on March 8th.  Together with Scott Harper let's take back the 13th Congressional District.

Please call Rich Capparell now at 630-848-2111 or at rich@scottharperforcongress.com

See you tomorrow.

Dear Lisle Township Democrats:

I am pleased to be communicating to you for the  first time as Chairman of the LTRDO.  Welcome to the many members who are receiving a notice of this type for the first time.  We Democrats are in for a very exciting 2008.  Your new leadership team is committed to making LTRDO an active force in local and state politics.  We have many goals to accomplish this year, not the least of which is to elect a Democratic President, Scott Harper for U.S. Congress, and local Democrats who will run in the General Election this November.

We meet as usual on the third Monday of each month.  Accordingly, our next General Meeting of the LTRDO will be held at the Woodridge Public Library at 3 Plaza Drive, Woodridge, Illinois 60517 tomorrow, Monday March 17, 2008.  The meeting will run from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  Please plan to join us.

You will receive future meeting notices with a complete agenda.  For this meeting, we have two featured presentations.  We will have a twenty minute presentation on the human catastophe in Darfur...ten minutes of media and ten minutes from our Sudanese presenters.  Then we will have a ten minute presentation on how to effectively organize a local Lisle Township precinct.  Marian Tomlinson (from Milton Township) was the 2007 Precint Committeewoman of the Year in DuPage County and she ran an incredibly effective precinct.  Please listen to her story and her advice for us.

Additionally, we will name four Delegates and two Alternate Delegates from Lisle Township to represent the LTRDO on the DuPage County Democratic Party Executive Committee.  The DuPage County Democratic Executive Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday each month at the IIT Rice Campus.

Democrats in DuPage came out to vote in the Feb 5th primary in numbers far higher that Republicans.  On March 8th Democrats in the Illinois 14th Congressional District elected Democrat Bill Foster to replace Dennis Hastert.  We believe we have the numbers in Lisle Township to become a political force that can give us and our communities better representation.  You are a huge part of this success--see you tomorrow.

Very Truly Yours,

Doug Higgins
Chairman, LTRDO

February 8, 2008

Dear LTRDO Members:

My seven year old daughter Jana told me should wants to see Hillary Clinton in the White House because there has never been a woman President. I’m sure that there are a lot of seven year old African American girls and boys around the country who feel the same way about Barack Obama. We can all be proud that we are the party of hope. In fact, you may have read that DuPage County is turning bluer and bluer casting more primary ballots than the opposition. Who would have thought this in 1980 when the numbers were notably lopsided?

We have a unique and unprecedented opportunity to make history in 2008. In order to keep the momentum going, please join your fellow Lisle Township Democrats at one of our tables at the DuPage County Democratic Party President’s Day Gala, this Sunday, February 10, 2008. Tickets are $50.00 and can be purchased from Doug Higgins. If you can attend, please call Doug at 630.369.2896 or send him an e-mail at dahiggins@comcast.net. The event will be held at Drury Lane. Cocktails are at 6:00 PM and Dinner is at 7:00 PM.

This is an especially important event because our Committeeman of the Year will be recognized with others from around DuPage County. Come and see who wins the County wide honor.

Thank you for being a Democrat and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

                                                Very truly yours,

                                                Guy N. Maras

                                                Chairman

Dear LTRDO Members:

I am writing to advise you of our next General Meeting of the LTRDO to be held at the Woodridge Public Library at 3 Plaza Drive, Woodridge, Illinois 60517 on February 18, 2008.  The meeting will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

At this meeting, we will have the opportunity to elect our next officers of the LTRDO.  I am pleased to inform you that we have received notice of the candidacy of Doug Higgins for Chairman, Aileen Eilert for Vice Chairman, and Jeff Knezovich for Treasurer.  Any other candidates should declare themselves by immediately filing notice with me and the Executive Committee.  Formal nominations will take place at our meeting, followed by an election.  Voting members are those members who have currently paid their annual membership dues to LTRDO.

I am also pleased to advise you that two special guests will be with us.  Bob Peickert, who is active with Operation Turn DuPage Blue, and who is running to serve as the Chairman of the DuPage County Democratic Party will be our speaker.  Rob Bisceglie, who currently serves as Chairman and who was our speaker last month, will be with us as well.

We anticipate that this will be a very interesting meeting and we hope to see everyone in attendance.

Very truly yours,

                                                Guy Maras
