Rita Gonzalez Issues Page

Dear Friends -
I do not claim to be a well polished politician.  I am a mother and a wife, who simply has a vision.

If you have read my Biography page, you will see that my background and life experience has granted me the leadership, and organizing skills, to, not only create opportunities, and serve the communities, but to stand up and defend those who were left without a voice.  I am simply a resourceful, fearless, no nonsense type of lady.

MY VISION, IF ELECTED TO SERVE AS A COUNTY BOARD MEMBER IS TO:

Our youth, being our most precious resource, need to be provided with guidance and opportunity.
By providing prevention programs, creating opportunities, and by making EDUCATION an ABSOLUTE PRIORITY, we will address a borage of issues-that will have a positive effect throughout our county
(Having successfully run prevention programs for 500 youths, many with gang mentality, and having been the first and only organization named on the Addison Police brochure as a gang prevention resource, I know how crucial this type of outreach is and what a powerful impact it made throughout our DuPage communities.)
Our elderly who have worked hard all of their lives and sacrificed to make our great nation what it is today, deserve to be treated with our utmost respect.  Yet we have failed to defend them on various issues, especially in dealing with the price of their medications and health insurance. Understanding that these issues tend to be sloughed off as more of a national issue... I would serve diligently as an advocate in trying to locate funding from various recourses (including the state or federal levels of government).

I volunteered for (as a youngster), then eventually worked for the JoDavis County workshop for the disabled in Galena IL. (My mother was an instructor there.)

I am  committed to preserving and protecting open space, parks, forests, air, and water for our families for generations to come.   Having experienced water contamination in our lakes and water systems- to the point of endangering the health of our families, we need to ensure proper, safe maintenance practices.         Hold meetings when the average worker is able to attend. We should open communication with our constituents. We need to meet throughout the various communities to hear from our residents, in attempt to learn what their issues and concerns are.
(As an extremely successful grass roots - (which often also equals to no money ) community  organizer- I recognized the importance of utilizing  the skills and talents of, and including the community in identifying , strategizing, and implementing plans  to address various  issues within the communities).  I would apply this same philosophy in working with the people for the people.
Things like helping  them understand our court systems and procedures, (which, when certain things are not explained after a court appearance ,for example, may lead to other situations, which tend to effect those who may have the most limited resources)  To simplify our college enrollment procedures or clarifying how to apply for funding to attend college.
The Government can't work for you if you don't understand how the government works.
I, along with our all of our "Good Government" team of candidate, pledge to make dramatic changes within the budget, and to end the frivolous spending practices that have lead us into an obscene amount of deficit.
One proposal has been to start at the top and to reduce the number of board members from 18, to 12 which will save an unbelievable amount of money, yet won't really have any type of adverse effect on our constituents.   (Most people don't even know who their representative are anyway; they don't really hear from them... well....at least until around election time.)
Friends, there is a movement across the nation.. voters have HAD ENOUGH!

That is the slogan of our "Good Government" team of candidates.  We have had enough!

Voters are now putting aside the " Democrats Vs. Republican mentality.
Voters see it benefits no one.  ( Other than those driven by money and power)
We are now a nation searching for true leadership,  honest leadership  that represents the people not themselves.
It is time to DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY

Of all the actions that I have taken throughout my life, none have been motivated by money, nor power, which is why I know that I will remain a true, sincere representative of the people.

This is my vision....   it seems quite obtainable....simple concept,  demanding accountability, slashing unnecessary spending, including and working with the people FOR the people..... Bringing "Good Government" to the people.

Please join me in my vision... for a better future.  I believe that ANYTHING is possible

Siempre aye Esperanza!-  Which means there is always Hope!

Thank you for your support!

Your friend, Rita
