Fred Chavez for County Board
in District 6
The Republican Party challenged Fred Chavez’ right to run for
county board from District 6. District 6 includes
Warrenville. This is because his paperwork said that he was
running for County Board Trustee rather than County Board Member.
The challenge was successful and Fred’s name will not appear on the
ballot. However, he will be running as a write-in
candidate. This will be very difficult, but we should not give
the incumbent county board members a free ride. Did I say
free? District One Candidate Robert Peickert has prepared a press
release about how the county board has given themselves a 75% pay raise
over an 8 year period. Go to his press page at http://peickert.dupagedemocrats.org/
to see the details. I will put instructions on casting a write-in
vote along with Fred Chavez’ positions in the October issue of Donkey
Tails, and information will soon be posted at http://chavez.dupagedemocrat.org/
John Laesch for Congress in
District 14
Most of Warrenville is in the 14th congressional District. John
Laesch is a very energetic and articulate candidate, who would
represent the 14th district well if elected to replace Dennis
Hastert. Here are his key campaign issues: *) A health care
system that ensures every American has access to affordable healthcare
without overburdening government resources. *) An economy that
puts the needs of Main Street before the desires of Wall Street while
defending the American Dream for future generations. *) An
education system that expands upon the dedication of family, promotes
responsibility, and rewards achievement while opening the door to
infinite possibilities. *) A national energy policy that focuses
on reducing foreign energy dependence and national consumption,
promotes alternative energy sources and strives for
sustainability. *) A foreign policy that includes a Success
Strategy for Iraq in the short-term and respects other nations;
safeguards our security, the environment and workers rights in the
long-term. *) Ending the War in Iraq, bringing our heroes home and
allowing International peace-keepers to resolve the ongoing civil war.
*) A political system that works to ensure the integrity of our
electoral system, increases voter turnout and reduces the influence of
special interest groups. *)A voting system that protects the right to
vote and insures that your vote has been counted.
He has taken the “Voters First Pledge” to make elections fair,
restore accountability, and get lobbyists out of Washington.
John Laesch Contributions I have been asked how contributions can
be made to help elect John Laesch to congress from the 14th
Congressional District. Send checks to Friends of John Laesch,
P.O. Box 481, Yorkville, IL 60560. Federal election law requires
him to collect and report the name, mailing address, employer and
occupation of each person whose contributions exceed $200 in an
election cycle. If retired, unemployed, a student, a homemaker or
other, please specify. Contributions are limited to a maximum of $2,100
per election cycle. Contributions are not deductible for federal income
tax purposes. Contributions from corporations and foreign nationals are
prohibited under federal law. Individuals cannot contribute in the name
of another. To help his campaign, visit the campaign
Headquarters at 119 W. Hydraulic Ave. or write P.O. Box 481, Yorkville,
IL 60560 or call (630)385-8568.
Joseph Shannon for Congress
in CD13.
The southern part of Warrenville is in the 13th Congressional
District. Joseph Shannon is the candidate there, and his number
one issue is the economy. He writes, “The lasting way to
strengthen the American economy is to build opportunities for Americans
to work. America’s best business is doing business. When businesses are
created, good jobs follow.” Joseph Shannon believes that the
American economy can and should be number one in the world. Our economy
has all the ingredients necessary for growth and prosperity for all of
our people.
However, family finances of Americans demonstrate that wages have
remained flat while health coverage and other expenses are still rising
dramatically. What makes people very anxious, however, is they do not
see leadership from Washington bringing the nation together to get the
job done. Instead Washington seems to be engaging in a massive
spend-down of all our inherited capital and focusing on political
issues. That's what our deficits in the federal budget and
international trade signify. Every dollar that takes our nation deeper
into debt is a dollar less for investing in America.
Joseph Shannon emphasizes the need to get our country back on track and
restore the economic confidence of the American people.
