Petitions for the 2008 ballot to start soon

Candidates for office in February need to get on the ballot with petitions, and the starting date for petitions is less than a month away.  This is true for candidates for President, candidates for precinct committeeman, and everything in between.  The first day to circulate petitions is August 7th, and they need to be turned in by November 5th.

Democratic Committeemen needed in Naperville Township

This is from the Naperville Township Democratic Chairman – Tom Wronski  “The Naperville Township Democratic Organization is looking for public-spirited men and women who are willing to represent their neighborhoods and subdivisions by serving as Democratic Party Precinct Committeemen.  This position ONLY requires a THREE HOUR committment between now and the end of 2007, and SIX HOURS annually. That's manageable - even for someone (like you or me) who is busy with family and work. Think of it as a small investment of your time, for an important and noble cause. Remember your civics class... Democracy is not a spectator sport!  Please contact me directly if you'd like more information about serving as a Precinct Committeeman. My work telephone number is 630-717-8920. My home telephone number is 630-357-1505. My e-mail is Naperville@dupagedemocrats.org”

A new Democratic State Representative in DuPage County

There are no elected Democratic State Representatives in DuPage County (there are two state senate districts with some precincts in the county) but there is now a Democratic State Representative in the 56th Legislative District, which also extends into DuPage County.  Republican state Rep. Paul Froehlich is switching political parties, becoming a Democrat and leaving behind the Schaumburg Township GOP organization he controlled for nearly a decade.  He believes that the views of more of his constituents, and presumably his own, align more with the Democratic Party than the Republican one.

Polite Republican Neighbors

Politics and Politicians should be polite.  And almost all Republicans that I meet in DuPage County and in the U.S. are polite.  I can picture Scooter Libby saying “Pardon Me.
