LOCAL CONSULTANT TO SPEAK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF WIND ENERGY IN ILLINOIS AT MARCH 12TH
MEETING OF DDC
  

 

Joining us at our March 12th meeting to discuss the future of wind energy in the United States will be Tim Libson, a principal consultant with Trintek Energy. Also invited to speak briefly will be some candidates running in the April 7th Consolidated General Election

Our meeting, which will start at 7:30 PM with a time for socializing and refreshment, will be held at the Lombard Commons, 433 E. St. Charles Road, Lombard. Presentations by our guest will start promptly at 8 PM. 

Mr. Libson has 30 years of energy industry experience including international and domestic assignments with Amoco/British Petroleum, The AES Corporation, and Trintek Energy Consulting, Inc. As Principal Consultant for Trintek Energy Consulting, his client list in the wind energy industry includes wind energy developers and projects in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Canada, Tennessee, California, and Arizona.

Mr. Libson has negotiated and executed a variety of power sales, fuel supply and services, and fuel transportation contracts with counter parties such as Exelon, Constellation/New Energy, TXU, El Paso, and PG&E. He has significant experience in EPC contractor and turbine supplier negotiations with counter parties such as, Duke Fluor Daniel, Stone and Webster/Shaw Group, NEPCO, Parsons, Mortenson, D.H. Blattner, TIC, Westinghouse, Mitsubishi, GE, and Vestas American Wind Technology. Mr. Libson negotiated the $275 MM non recourse financing for the AES Wolf Hollow 730 MW combined cycle project in Granbury, Texas and was also responsible for negotiating and executing a 20 year power purchase agreement for 350 MW's with Exelon for this project. As a consultant to Invenergy LLC, he assisted the Invenergy wind team with development of the Buffalo Mountain Wind Energy Project.

His international experience includes development and acquisition of power projects in Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia, Turkey, Israel, and the U.K. He personally negotiated and closed purchase and sale transactions totaling $140 MM as Manager of Acquisitions and Divestments for an Exploration and Production Business Unit of Amoco Production Company.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer by exam in Texas, a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois, and holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. He is a member of the American Wind Energy Association, the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Gulf Coast Power Association, and the Midwest Cogeneration Association. Mr. Libson served four years active duty with the U.S. Army as an officer and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
