ILLINOIS CAMPAIGN FOR POLITICAL REFORM ASSISTANT DIRECTOR TO SPEAK AT FEBRUARY 12TH CLUB MEETING

On his first full day as Illinois governor, Pat Quinn said Friday that he will establish the Illinois Reform Commission as an official state body under the governor. Governor Quinn also stated that the state should embark on a “year of reform” to help restore the state’s battered image and to restore the confidence of Illinois citizens in their state government. .

What can ordinary citizens do to promote reform in Illinois government? To answer that question, David Morrison, Assistant Director of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform (ICPR), will join us at the February 12th meeting of the DuPage Democratic Club. As usual, we will meet at the Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road, Lombard. We will gather at 7:30 PM for socializing and refreshment followed by our formal meeting at 8 PM.

The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform (ICPR) is a non-partisan public interest group that conducts research and advocates reforms to promote public participation in government, address the role of money in politics and encourage integrity, accountability, and transparency in government.

The steering committee for ICPR is composed of a diverse group of civic, business, labor, political, and religious leaders from across Illinois, and was chaired by the late Senator Paul Simon. Ross Harano is now the Chairman of the Board.

ICPR's director is Cindi Canary and David Morrison is the Assistant Director. They are dedicated to making elections more competitive by introducing fair, sensible contribution limits on individual, corporate and union, contributions, and transfers from other politicians.

<>All DuPage Democratic Club meetings are open to the general public. We welcome and encourage attendance by individuals of all political views and affiliations.
