Toward moving
Illinois forward 2006
Shared Opportunity. Shared
Accountability
Terrell Barnes is a Democrat running for
the Illinois State Senate district 28 seat. He grew up in
the following cities: Glendale Heights, Bloomingdale, and Roselle. He
attended the Marqaurdt Middle School in Glendale Heights and later
Glenbard East High school in Lombard, Illinois. While attending he
played on the freshman basketball team and participated in many
activities. Shortly thereafter he attended the College of Dupage
and received two Business based certification which are: Management
supervision and entrepreneurship. Terrell later worked as a
package handler with United Parcel Service, as a machine operator with
an aluminum wire plant in Batavia, and various other labor intensive
jobs.
First a little background on the 28th District. The district is
located in parts of the 8th Congressional district, 6th congressional
district, and the 14th congressional district. His candidacy
could win this seat with the resources flowing to the competitive 6th
district and the democratic incumbent Congresswoman Melissa Bean
creating democratic votes down ballot. Terrell could use your donation
to win this seat down ballot while helping democrats at the top of the
ticket. A donation draws money away from the Illinois Republican
Party and changes their planning.
Terrell Barnes is running for the State Senate in the Illinois 28th
district, to give working families an independent voice in Springfield.
For far too long many have associated Northwest Cook County, Dupage
County, and Kane County with a culture of indifference and denial to
the problems in Illinois. 2006 is the year for real leadership which
reflects the hopes and dreams of residents living in Northwest Cook
County, Dupage County, and Kane County. Terrell Barnes runs on a record
of accomplishment in diverse fields.
Terrell Barnes understands Small Business; Terrell ran a
small business
and provide consulting assistance to the Small Business Development
Center located on the college of Dupage. He understands what can
happen in local government when leadership is absent. Why is he
running? Terrell is running to give the Illinois 28th
Senate district a fresh
start and a new direction. Appointed Republican Senator John
Milner’s values are the opposite of most working families within the
district. In 2003 as a State Representative he received a 33%
rating from the Illinois AFL-CIO. Indeed, a failing grade in the fight
to lift the quality of life for working families. John Millner
cast many votes against the interest of affordable housing and the
State Wide Housing Action Coalition gave him a 63% rating. John
Millner received according the Illinois Environmental Council the
lowest rating 25% of any republican in the Illinois state senate lower
than Steven J. Rauschenberger’s 50%.
He voted with the Illinois Retail Merchants Association and against
parental discretion warning stickers and fines for merchants who sell
violent video games to minors. Finally, appointed Senator John
Millner cast a vote while in the Illinois House against property owners
by voting for “quick take” which takes homes away from residents near
O’Hare and gives Mayor Richard Daley control over the property of 28th
district residents.
This campaign will stand up for working
families. Our fight will be as tireless advocates for the
environment, affordable housing, lower prescription drug cost, jobs and
economic development, affordable healthcare, property owners and
families seeking to raise their children without the threat of violent
video games. Join me in this effort to put Illinois First!
